Flying to Ayia Napa
Larnaca International Airport (LCA) is the most convenient airport for most international visitors travelling to Ayia Napa.
The airport offers connections to numerous European and Middle Eastern destinations.
From Larnaca Airport, you can continue to Ayia Napa by taxi, pre-booked transfer, rental car or public transportation.
The journey by car generally takes around 40–50 minutes, depending on traffic and your accommodation’s location.
Travelling by Car
Ayia Napa is connected to Larnaca and the rest of southern Cyprus by the A3 motorway.
Driving is relatively straightforward, although traffic can become busy during the main summer holiday season.
Remember that vehicles drive on the left in Cyprus.
If you are planning to explore Cape Greco, nearby villages or more remote beaches, renting a car can be convenient.
Getting Around Ayia Napa
Central Ayia Napa is relatively easy to explore on foot, particularly if you are staying near the harbour or town centre.
However, the resort stretches along several kilometres of coastline, so walking between some beaches and attractions can take considerable time.
Local buses connect the town centre with popular beaches, neighbouring Protaras and other destinations in the region.
Taxis are another option for shorter journeys.
Exploring the Surrounding Coast
Cape Greco National Forest Park is located between Ayia Napa and Protaras.
It is a popular destination for scenic walks, photography and exploring the beautiful coastline.
You can also visit Fig Tree Bay in Protaras or take a boat excursion along the eastern coast.
Do You Need a Car?
If you are mainly planning to relax at the beach and enjoy the restaurants and nightlife, you can spend your holiday in Ayia Napa without renting a car.
However, a rental car provides greater flexibility if you want to explore the surrounding region independently.
For a first visit, I recommend allowing at least four or five days in Ayia Napa, with additional time if you want to discover more of Cyprus.
